Darling Downs Golf Association
- A Brief History.
The Darling Downs and South West Queensland Golf Association was formed in 1929 to organise and promote the sport for male golfers in the Darling Downs and South West Queensland area. This association continued, apart from a short recess for World War 2 until 1994. In 1994 the South West Queensland Golf Association was formed and clubs in that district were encompassed by the new body, now known as the Darling Downs Golf Association.
From January 1 1994, the Darling Downs Golf Association has been the parent entity for clubs in its region. Presently 19 clubs are members of the association. The association represents around 3000 golfers in the area.
The association is responsible for the promotion of golf in the region, organising various championship events and conducting Pennants.
